Emilie Dorothea Waker Macgregor, lately of Chester, passed away peacefully in her sleep Thursday, January 9th, just shy of her 102nd birthday. Emmy was a very loved and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great aunt and great-grandmother. Born in Springfield, MA, Feb. 3, 1918, she attended the MacDuffie School and later Wellesley College. She married James S. Macgregor in 1939 and they celebrated their 72nd anniversary before his passing in 2011. Together they raised four children: James (Scott) of Moodus, Alan of Essex and Dorothy (Dorrie) of Salt Lake City, Utah. Her youngest son, Rob Roy of Londonderry, Vermont, passed away in 2015. Her family remembers her quiet kindness and reserved, but firm nature. She was a knitter, and avid reader. She was a devoted baker of cookies and always had several tins of homemade cookies in reserve to fuel her family’s adventures. She was a member of the Deep River Congregational Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and vacationing at the family home in Center Harbor, NH. She will be missed by her children, her daughters-in-law Barbara and Joan, her granddaughters Lyn and Nancy, and her great-granddaughters Caroline and Jillian. There will be a private burial in the family cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Aaron Manor for the wonderful care Emilie received there.
