My late uncle John was in the SeaBees, he and Joe would have gotten along well. Rest in peace Joe. My condolences to his wonderful family.
Sending you love from down under in Australia!
Wishing you peace and comfort. You have memories galore. How blessed, how lucky to have had a a father, friend, and family member like Mr. Heller.
~I did not know your father but sure wish I did!~Without a doubt he sounded like a lot of fun!~I will keep you and yours in my prayers for the days to come~ This is absolutely the most loving and funny obituary I have ever read!~May God Bless you all~
I am so sorry for your loss, but thank you for the joy your memories of your father and your obituary have given to so many people.
You have one heck of a send off.
May his memories of twisted humor forever be mentioned and out did.

What a wonderful family you all have. Your daddy sounds like he was an amazing man. The obit is the best thing I have read in years. The fun and how much love Papa Joe shared is something we should all strive to do!
So sorry for your loss and I hope you mama is dancing with her hubby now.
Condolences from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
That is the Best Obit i've ever seen! Your father is a man I would have liked to have met so Thank you for sharing his life with us.
Thank you for sharing the memory of your father. He sounds so much like how my Dad was. I hope they have a chance to meet there, and that they don’t cause too much trouble if they do. ;-) My thoughts are with you all.
Nothing is worth more than laughter.
It is strength to laugh and abandon oneself, to be light.
From the daughters of a Navy Seabee member to the daughters of another. Bless you for having such a wonderful father. Who truly saw the world thru his own glasses and would not tolerate any BS. He changed the world one word at a time. Our father was the same way, he started a hunger strike of over 400 black sailors at Guatacanal when he saw the racial discriminations within the Navy. So with that said, Its an honor to connect with daughters of former Seabee men. We are PROUD to call them Dad with promises to carry on their legacy of caring.
Again Bless you all....
I send my condolences to you daughters who have obviously inherited his wonderful sense of humor. I only wish I were related to, or knew that man. We could ALL use someone like him on our family tree.
Never met your father, but saw his obit online. Seems like a wonderful man- would have loved to have met him.
My dad also used to let my sister and I play beauty shop with him. I have the most wonderful picture of him in his dirty work uniform adorned in jewels and a pillbox hat holding a parasol. Makes me smile just thinking about it.
May your father's memory always make you smile.
To Joe, who was a Bright Light in the World -
God Bless you Joe!
If i live to be a tenth of the prankster Joe was, I feel I would've lived a full and rich life. Rest well.
How blessed you were to have such a character in your family - Carry on!
Did not know your dad, his obituary came up on my Patch app....he sounds like a great, realistic person. May your wonderful memories give you comfort.
